Contact Lens Abstract
A hybrid contact lens comprises a substantially rigid zone having a base curve with a first curved section defined by an apical radius and an aspheric section defined by a conic constant. A substantially flexible hydrophilic peripheral portion is coupled to the substantially rigid zone, the peripheral portion having one of a plurality of radii, wherein a conic constant of the aspheric section varies with apical radius, so as to provide a nearly constant deviation between the aspheric shape of the aspheric section and a sphere having a radius equal to the apical radius, regardless of the length of the apical radius.

Contact lens case
Contact Lens Abstract
A contact lens case including a body or base portion with a pair of lens-receiving wells recessed therein, a cap or cover closable to form a substantially liquid-impermeable seal around the wells, and a latch or closure assembly engageable to secure the cover in its closed position. A compressible gasket around the wells assists in forming the seal with the cover. The wells include a primary bowl portion with a tapered secondary portion extending therefrom to assist in lens removal.

Soft multifocal contact lens
Contact Lens Abstract
A multifocal contact lens (10, 50) made of flexible material is able to translocate on an eye by virtue of a lower end (22) of the contact lens (10, 50). being truncated so as to provide a relatively wide surface. The lower end (22) engages with the lower eyelid of a wearer. The lower end (22) may be provided with a forwardly projecting ledge (52).

Wettable silicone hydrogel contact lenses and related compositions and methods
Contact Lens Abstract
Silicone hydrogel contact lenses having ophthalmically acceptable surface wettabilities are obtained from pre-extracted polymerized silicone hydrogel contact lens products produced from a polymerizable composition comprising a combination of particular components. The silicone hydrogel contact lenses can be obtained from non-polar resin based contact lens molds and without surface treatments or an interpenetrating polymeric network of a polymeric wetting agent. Related lens products, polymerizable compositions, and methods are also described.

Corneal-scleral orthokeratology contact lens
Contact Lens Abstract
A corneal-scleral orthokeratology contact lens is formed of rigid gas permeable material with uniform arc lengths in the treatment area even when the corneal curvature varies and asymmetric blends or splines called minor zones, where the portion of the blend or spline is shorter toward the lens center and broader toward the lens edge, and relieve the treatment area of all centering responsibility, transferring it to the limbal-scleral region. The method of determining the total sagittal height of an eye at a given chord diameter to predetermine exact fitting parameters and predict unaided visual outcome trial lenses, with exact chord and sagittal height values used to match the sagittal height of an eye, the sagittal value may be obtained from some ocular topographers. A computer program can easily take the sagittal information and design an optimum lens.

Photochromic contact lenses and methods of manufacturing
Contact Lens Abstract
Described are contact lenses having photochromic materials within the central or pupillary area of the lens and methods for manufacturing such lenses. In one method, a photochromic amount of at least one photochromic material is added to the pupillary region of a casting mold containing a polymerizable monomer that can be at least partially cured before and/or after the addition. Another method involves providing an amount of polymerizable photochromic monomer for the pupillary region and an amount of polymerizable non-photochromic monomer for the remainder of the contact lens in a casting mold. The photochromic and non-photochromic monomers can differ by their degree of polymerization, viscosity and/or density.

Method of disinfecting contact lens and disinfecting liquid for the method
Contact Lens Abstract
A method of disinfecting a contact lens is provided, including the steps of preparing a disinfecting liquid which contains hydrogen peroxide and at least one metal phthalocyanine compound dispersed or dissolved in an aqueous medium, immersing the contact lens in the disinfecting liquid, and irradiating the disinfecting liquid in which the contact lens is immersed with a light.

Screw cap package for contact lens
Contact Lens Abstract
A contact lens package includes a holder having a receptacle for holding a contact lens and a cap having a seal for sealing a contact lens within the receptacle. The cap is attached to the holder and is movable from an end of the holder where the receptacle is formed toward an opposite end of the holder. As the cap moves toward the opposite end of the holder, the end of the holder where the receptacle is formed ruptures the seal such that the contact lens can be removed from the package.
